Thad Reid is the next rising independent hip hop star to rise up out of Virginia. His grind his heavy and he’s going all all out to make sure you hear what he has to say.
1. What inspired you to get into hip hop?
TR: Music has always had a great influence on my life, and hip-hop was that voice of a new generation so I automatically gravitated towards it. As far as being an artist, my homeboy who rapped would always get me to freestyle and eventually that gave me confidence to actually pursue the craft.
2. If you were a super hero, what powers would you choose and what would be your name?
TR: Just give me the unlimited power of persuasion and I can do alotta things with that. My name would be “Mindwine”.
3. If you could deck a famous person in public and get away with it, who would it be?
TR: Bill O’Reilly without question.
4. If you were approached to do a reality show, what would be the name of it?
TR: “Thad Reid – Always Something”
5. Your girl caught you leaving the theater with another girl, give me your best lie.
TR: I’m usually an upfront person, so it would probably be something lame like “Hey _____ this is my cousin_____. Sorry I haven’t had a chance to introduce you yet, she just moved here this week so I was just showing her around.”
6. What do you love and hate about hip hop?
TR: I love the energy, raw emotion and versatility of hip-hop. I hate the large corporate influence that controls it right now combined with the femininity that seems to be dominating the culture and/or artists.
7. What’s the dopest shit about your city?
TR: The options, the variety, the different cultures. It’s a lot of different flavors here and it just helps me become more of a well rounded person.
