    Lol too funny. It’s intriguing that several artist has their mind programmed to think that because they are a local artist, then local radio stations or any local businesses of that genre should automatically provide their services for free. Most artist’s don’t understand the business side & that’s part of the confusion. I could go more in depth with this subject but you get the idea of what I’m saying. Thanks for sharing this.

    Warz, you’re correct in your assessment that most don’t fully understand the business side of this. However almost everything sucks when the winners are there not based on their level of skill, but because they paid to in the system. There’s a healthy balance somewhere.     Funkworm, I follow you on the true “level of skill winners.” But to gain those skills I understand an artist must first drop a few mixtapes to develop a fanbase and some creative feedback. Is there a chance of a “How to make and distribute a Mixtape ” article coming anytime soon? This would be a plus for new artist starting out!

    True you must release some free music to get some attention and build an audience. As for distribution, there is a lot of material on this blog about ways to go about getting your music distributed. Click on Marketing and Promotion in the categories to the right, and go through some of the postings. Also, there is some valuable info on this in my Online Grind ebook along with a list of online radio stations and blogs that support indie hip hop.
