Kendrick Lamar Sued for $1 Million for “Rigamortis”

I’ve visited the issue of the importance of sample clearances several times here on IHH. How this kind of thing happens at this level is beyond comprehension. To avoid these things from happening, artists, if they are unaware, must make sure that the beats they are receiving from beat makers contain no samples. If they do, the artists and the label releasing the uncleared song, are totally liable for the copyright infringement. When this happens, you’re at the mercy of the original performers and composers of that music.  Now Eric Reed and Willie Jones III, who are those composers, want a million plus all of the profits and rights to “Rigamortis”. Bad situation but hopefully a teachable moment. Both songs are below.
