My how time flies.  This blog is a year old today. Up and walking but not quite potty trained yet.  Blogging was totally new to me when I started this. I didn’t know what the hell I was doing or getting myself into. Wasn’t even sure if people would care.  While running a successful beat licensing site, I would receive numerous emails from independent hip hop artists asking me questions about how they should go about breaking into the industry.

After looking around the internet, I saw that there was very few sites with information that catered specifically to independent hip hop artists.  Not much that inspired them to do things for themselves. So, I took a few months to explore and learn what I could about blogging so that I could share useful information I acquired from spending most of my life in the industry.  Then I applied what I learned about promoting other sites to help spread awareness about this blog.

I love running this blog and I’m encouraged by the artists who tell me how much it’s helped them. The most gratifying part is the introduction to great music I receive from artists submissions. The hardest thing about running it, is finding the time to add content.  But I’m workin’ it out. I’ve only had one guest writer on this blog, in the year that I’ve been up, but I’m always open to others who share my passion for the culture.

There are so many things I have planned for next year and the years to come that will create more avenues for independent hip hop artists.  So stay tuned, continue to send music, and feel free to express yourself here. This blog was made for you!

  5. wow, indiehiphop is one years old and has a full life ahead. kudos on bringing the indie hip hop artists to the forefront and giving them a platform to express their talent, dedication, dreams and ability to show the industry there are individuals who can shake things up without million dollar contracts to bring the hype. i am happy and proud to have graced the pages of indiehiphop over the past year. as small as my voice may be and my words as miniscule in the scope of what is to come, i will always be here to add my two cents to the piggy bank. keep doing what you’re doing and if you let them see you sweat…do not despair. that is a sign of hard work and focus. those who are sleeping on indiehiphop will awake to a new generation of hip hop heads who will have been inspired by your blog, advice and lessons within the industry. thank you for allowing me be a part of a dynasty in the making. i know you haven’t quite finished blowing the candles out on your one year anniversary cake, but let’s gets this ish poppin’ for year number two. i want to be first in line for the mickey-fickey countdown that will send this ish right here straight through the roof. indiehiphop and the independent artists go hand in hand and one cannot exist without the other. support one another…spread the word…get excited…stay excited…show some love…HAPPY BIRTHDAY INDIEHIPHOP.NET!!!!!!!!

  6. Funk congrats man. I had no clue the blog was this young. Man you’ve done some amazing work in such a short period of time.

You are absolutely right when you say you’re the only one out there trying to advance the knowledge of independent Hip Hop artists and those who revolve around them. You grow the knowledge and that’s why I try my best to direct as many people to you as possible.

I’m a little late on this post, but now you’re headed into two years and you’re getting better with every step.
