I decided to put a playlist together of a few of my favorite submissions throughout the 2011 year. Of course i could have loaded this list with 50 tracks, but i wanted to keep it moderate. I unfortunately couldn’t add any of the dope videos that were submitted either. But nevertheless, I had this Mixcloud profile that hadn’t been used since I released a blogtape about the same time last year, so I decided to put it to use. I met Skyy on Twitter and discovered that we shared a passion for helping talented independent artist get heard. Skyy is the founder of Skyyhookradio.com, a online radio show dedicated to playing music from independent hip hop and R&B artists. With a team of radio personalities representing every corner of the U.S., Skyyhook Radio is rapidly expanding and destined to become a formidable force in online radio.
So I decided to put together a lil mixtape/ compilation/ ep or whatever it’s being called these days, for your listening pleasure. It was a most difficult task choosing which artists to put on it, because I really like every artists that has ever been posted on this blog. Nevertheless, it’s done. And i plan to do more. Eljay Williams is a screenwriter, director, and most importantly, a big supporter of independent hip hop artists. He’s the creator of a documentary that profiles independent emcees, producers, b-boys and graffiti artists. These documentaries are called The Stand On Demand, and they have been on Comcast, in the Atlanta, for the last 3 years.
